Kodak has launched its new Prosper Plus 5 Imprinting System, expanding its Prosper Plus portfolio with a 152m/min system that adds Kodak’s Stream inkjet technology to existing presses and finishing lines.

Laura Cole, VP, Pricing and Product Management at Kodak, says: “This new addition to the Prosper portfolio reflects our continued investment and ongoing commitment to the print industry. With the Prosper Plus 5, Kodak is helping printers modernise existing production assets, unlock new revenue opportunities and deliver the personalisation, traceability, and flexibility that today’s markets demand.”

With 79,000 worldwide patents earned over 130 years of R&D, Kodak is well-recognised globally as a leading manufacturer of commercial print and advanced materials & chemicals. Its Prosper Plus 5/10/20 Imprinting Systems are all positioned to add high-margin variable data printing to existing presses without the need for printers to replace existing equipment. They can be used as an adjunct to offset, flexo and gravure presses, and to finishing lines, facilitating more revenue-generating capability through personalised printing, track-and-trace coding, security applications, and customised packaging.

Having recently simplified its existing portfolio by renaming Prosper Plus 1/1W and Prosper Plus 2/2W to Prosper Plus 10 and Prosper Plus 20 respectively (reflecting production speeds of 305m/min and 609m/min), the new Prosper Plus 5 Imprinting System, now adds a 152m/min solution.

Whilst these systems are powered by Kodak Stream Inkjet Technology, it is their use of Kodak’s Ektacolor inks, that delivers their ability to deliver high image quality at speed. Kodak claims that ‘the finely milled pigments of Kodak Ektacolor Inks deliver exceptional vibrancy, colour consistency, and durability across many substrates’. The eco-friendly, water-based formulations are non-toxic, offering application opportunities such as indirect food contact packaging and children’s products. Dye-based inks create enhanced durability for longer lasting print.

With 600×900 dpi resolution, flexible drop size options and enhanced reliability, the Prosper Plus 5 supports applications including direct mail, packaging, security printing, lottery and personal care, enabling printers to pursue higher-value work from existing production assets.
