Thursday, 29 May 2025 Roland DG demonstrates New TrueVIS XG-640 at PacPrint Roland DG has launched the XG-640 64-inch eco-solvent inkjet printer/cutter, the new flagship model in its TrueVIS series whch was recently displayed at PacPrint - The company says the XG-640 takes printing and cutting to a new level of versatility, usability, and productivity. It builds on the legacy of its original Print & Cut innovation, which was the world’s first to combine high-quality printing with automatic precision cutting in one device. “The new XG-640 is our fastest printer/cutter ever, combining the overwhelming high image quality and versatile expressive power of the TrueVIS series with our pioneering print/cut technology,” says Ryugo Nimura, President, Global Sales and Marketing Division. “It not only creates eye-catching sign graphics but also enables the seamless, automated production of a wide variety of uniquely shaped applications, including stickers, labels, and apparel decorations. It provides your business with increased efficiency and a strong competitive edge.” The printer employs newly designed dual staggered print heads that eject finer ink droplets at higher densities, resulting in brilliant colour. The new high-speed data control technology maximises performance, achieving outstanding productivity of 15.2 sqm/h in standard mode for 8-colour PVC and 22.5 sqm/h in standard mode for 4-colour PVC. The XG-640 uses new GBL-free TR3 ink to deliver rich, vivid colour in a wide gamut. It offers a choice of ink configurations up to 8 colours. White ink printing is three times faster and 1.3 times denser than the VG3, delivering excellent opacity for window graphics and base coats. True Rich Color is a unique print setting that optimises the device's potential to create beautifully realistic graphics that combine vivid colours with neutral greys, smooth gradations, and natural skin tones. Users can now quickly select the ideal colour setting, including more vivid, deeper, or softer colours, depending on the desired output. The XG-640 comes with additional productivity features for efficient, high-quality output, including automatic media set-up and take-up systems to ensure fast and stable throughput, a 7-inch colour LCD touch-screen control panel, automated pinch rollers, perforated sheet cutting, a media gap adjustment function, and self-maintenance features. Roland DG’s latest RIP software, VersaWorks 7, is included with the printer. It has an enhanced processing capacity and user interface and is now compatible with macOS and Windows. In addition, the XG-640 is compatible with Roland DG Connect, a powerful, comprehensive platform for users to streamline their workflow, manage print operations, and grow their business. Nimura adds, “The XG-640 is a printer that not only delivers outstanding print and cut output but also offers superb productivity, efficient and user-friendly operation, maximum versatility and high profitability for owners, making it ideal for sign and graphics professionals. It is especially suitable for users who require quick turnaround for a wide variety of output.
