Shear automation from ColDesi
ColDesi has announced the launch of the ColDesi AcroShear DTF Transfer Cutting System, an advanced production automation solution designed to reduce manual cutting between DTF printing and finished transfer production, by cross-cutting and slitting printed and cured DTF film into individual transfer sheets.
Automated Finishing for High-Production Workflows
Designed and manufactured in the US for high-volume DTF environments, AcroShear can operate inline downstream from a DTF dryer or as a standalone system utilising an automated unwind system for previously printed rolls. The platform combines cross-cutting, simultaneous slitting, printed-mark detection, QR-based job automation, and film management to reduce manual operator intervention.
The AcroShear system also operates independently of specific printer manufacturers or RIP software environments. Its proprietary production application generates cross-cut marks, slitter-positioning data, and job-change parameters separately from the printer RIP, allowing seamless integration into existing DTF setups.
Hardware protections include edge-driven film transport that prevents drive rollers from contacting printed artwork, while integrated LiDAR sensors track the available film loop to pause cutting automatically when additional film is needed from upstream equipment.
Key system capabilities include:
- High-Speed Output: Production speeds reach up to 3,300 4″×4″ transfers per hour, 1,800 8″×8″ transfers per hour, and 1,080 12″×12″ transfers per hour.
- Rotary Shear Configurations: Features five slitter combinations with 10 independently driven rotary shear positions (two per combination).
- Automated Job Tracking: Integrates QR-based job automation and registration mark detection via ColDesi’s Automated Production Application.
- Media Handling: Supports DTF film up to 24” (600mm) wide using edge-driven film transport and LiDAR film-loop monitoring.
