Bluetooth label from Avery Dennison enables advanced tracking
Avery Dennison has revealed its AD Visi product line, a new range of Active Bluetooth Low Energy labels designed to deliver advanced tracking for time critical and high-value shipments across global supply chains.
AD Visi’s initial range comprises two labels using InPlay’s NanoBeacon chip technology, engineered for ultra-low power consumption and long-range performance.
- AD Visi Way — Real-Time Location System (RTLS) tracking, providing continuous location data throughout the supply chain journey
- AD Visi Secure — RTLS tracking with an integrated tamper-evidence loop, delivering time- and location-stamped responsibility identification for high-value goods
Both products are powered by thin, non-lithium printed batteries and are wireless activated. At less than 1 mm thickness with a flexible construction, they are designed for straightforward application across parcels, pallets and returnable transport items (RTIs). The labels operate across a temperature range of -30°C to +60°C and offer a reading distance of up to 100 meters.
The AD Visi product line aims to enhance end-to-end traceability for high-value or sensitive goods while offering broader applications for sectors needing greater supply chain visibility. Avery Dennison says that its Active Bluetooth Low Energy labels provide live location data, tamper alerts, continuous broadcasting and condition monitoring without manual intervention or specialised scanning infrastructure.

The AD Visi product line leverages Avery Dennison’s specialised inlay design and large-scale manufacturing capabilities. It incorporates low-energy-consumption chip technology for optimised power use and long read-range capabilities, compared to standard Bluetooth wireless technology-enabled chips that are not optimised for ultra-low power use.
The labels, which are less than 1mm thick, have been designed for applying to parcels, pallets and returnable transport items and are effective within a temperature range of between -30°C to +60°C and a reading distance of up to 100 metres.
The portfolio also includes Passive Bluetooth Low Energy, said to be a cost-effective solution for long-term deployments, and UHF RFID, a foundational technology for mass-scale inventory and item-level supply chain visibility.
