Tuesday, 1 December 2020 Bailey Print expands to new bespoke large format production house and wins HIA award On the back of the demand for its COVID-19-related protective gear, Brisbane sign and display business Bailey Print Group has moved its operation into a new high tech printing facility in the manufacturing hub of Salisbury. In addition, Bailey's Business Development Manager Samantha Bailey-Jensen recently won an HIA award recognising the company's pivot into making protective gear for healthcare workers. “Our new home at The Salisbury Workstores, 605 Toohey Road, Salisbury comprises of two levels of high-tech printing and finishing production, including the Bailey Print Garage – a dedicated vehicle wrapping facility," said General Manager, Peter Bailey. "Our bespoke fit out includes complete climate and dust-controlled environments, LED movement lighting and solar panels to help reduce our energy footprint.” Bailey’s incredible journey of 35 years began at the family dining room of founders Ron and Halina Bailey. It is interesting to reflect on the progress made over the years - the 80s screen printing pole banners that took weeks to produce are now produced overnight and printed with environmentally friendly inks. Artwork proofs have gone from hand drawn illustrations which would then be delivered to clients for sign off, to email coloured proofs created and signed off within the hour! “Even though the technology has changed us, our old school values and customer centric DNA is still as strong as when founders Ron and Halina Bailey were at the helm,” added Peter. The passing of the torch to Peter Bailey as General Manager, and Samantha Bailey-Jensen, as Business Development Manager, saw the company move into the digital era and more sustainable printing solutions. The company offers a suite of interior and exterior signage solutions, displays, banners, wallpapers, direct printing, vehicle signage, router cutting and more. When the country went into lockdown this year Bailey Print Group pivoted to create Bailey Protection Gear and began manufacturing face shields to protect healthcare workers. The business began operating 22 hours a day, six days a week to fulfill demand as the orders for face shields rolled in. “The face shields have been distributed nationally and into New Zealand,” explained Peter. “We had two teams running day and night to ensure that production could continue in case a team member fell ill and to meet our social distancing obligations on the floor. "Our pivot to producing Australian Made face shields to protect our frontline healthcare workers was recognised with Bailey Protection Gear director Samantha Bailey-Jensen receiving the 2020 HIA Qld Build Women Award - Achievement in Manufacturing and Supply."
