Sign industry mourns the passing of Bokay's founder Bob Meade

"Industry identity Bob Meade passed away last Sunday after 37 years in the sign and screen print industry."

"As Managing Director of the Bokay Group, a proud family owned company, Bob guided the business through the good and tough times. Registered in 1984, Bokay was one of the oldest print and sign companies in Perth. The company was originally a screenprinting operation and with the changes in technology, successfully adapted to the digital imaging sector. Bokay had an enviable following of high profile clients but one was probably more favoured than the others - the Liberal Party. Bob loved election time and with his HP FB7500 flatbed printer, pushed out thousands of Coreflute sign posters for use throughout WA."

"Over time, Bob along with wife and partner Kay, (Bokay) diversified the company into framing, memorabilia, general signage, vehicle wrapping etc. The company was a successful winner of many industry awards."

"In late 2019 Bob announced that Bokay had a new home with Jason Signmakers and their commercial print, digital and signage division, Expo Signage and Digital Pty Ltd. This strategic merger cemented Jason Signmakers position as WA’s largest signage and print group."

"Bob Meade was a larger than life man who enjoyed the company of his family and in particular his many grandchildren. I spoke with Bob recently and his last message to me was: 'Yes I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, my hope now is that God gives me at least 10 to 15 years to enjoy the time."

"Unfortunately this wasn't to be".

"Bob Meade will be missed by many in the industry."
