JOLT expands OOH EV Charger network into Melbourne

Electric Vehicle drivers in the City of Knox in Melbourne will soon have access to free and fast Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations within the community with the launch of a new agreement between Knox City Council and JOLT.  Knox City Council announced that together with JOLT, they would expand the network of free and fast EV chargers at local shopping areas.

EV drivers will get 7 kWh or approximately 15 minutes of free charging, which provides around 40 to 50 km of range. All charging sessions are enabled by the JOLT App, where drivers can navigate to chargers nearby, track charging sessions in real-time and manage payments if they go over the free 7 kWh. Drivers using JOLT can save over $1,100 on charging per year, and JOLT has already given out over 3.5 million km of driving range across the network in Australia.

The first JOLT chargers will be installed in early 2023, with the number of chargers expanding over the next year. Over 100 EVs were registered in Knox in 2020, and EV ownership within the community is expected to grow. To support the households’ decision to transition to lower-emission transport options, Knox Council is working with JOLT to find thelbest to suit the community’s need for EV charging.

JOLT CEO, Doug McNamee, said that adding Knox Council locations to the JOLT network will significantly expand its growing national network. “With free, fast charging, we hope more people embrace EV ownership in Knox. Through the expansion of the free chargers in Victoria, we want to build out a bigger network across the State to provide EV drivers in Melbourne with more convenient, free-of-charge and clean sites to charge their EVs and make EV ownership easier across the country.”

JOLT has been working with Councils, States and utility partners across Australia and New Zealand, recently installing its first charger in Auckland, New Zealand.
