Metromatics delivers unique LCD Digital Bus Stop Totems

Metromatics recently delivered nine of its new MetroSpec LCD Digital Bus Stop Totems with inbuilt voice annunciators and hearing loops for the South Australian Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure’s Commuters at Adelaide City Bus Stops.

Designed for displaying and communicating real time passenger information to Adelaide commuters, the technology will be installed around metropolitan Adelaide including Tea Tree Plaza, Paradise and Klemzig O-Bahn Interchanges and the Dumas Street Interchange at Mount Barker.

These sleek, weather resistant bus stop totems feature a 32-inch high bright LCD display that is readable in sunlight.  It displays to commuters the real-time arrival times of the buses plus other service information.

For those commuters who are visually or hearing impaired, the new Digital Bus Stop Totems provide a voice annunciator and hearing induction loop service, activated when the illuminated button is pushed. This signals the reading of the timetable information displayed. Those who require hearing assistance and wear hearing aids can tune into the voice annunciator broadcast by activating the ‘T-Switch’ on their hearing device.

The digital hearing loop system contains an inbuilt coil, enabling it to broadcast to a wider height range with a strong signal and little interference; as well as a perimeter doesn’t need to be built into the floor to receive communication.

The MetroSpec LCD Bus Stop Totem has an inbuilt wireless PC that allows it to connect back to existing real-time passenger information networks. Information can be modified or updated if there are any network disruptions.
