Michio ‘Mich’ Kondo will join Fujifilm Australia on August 4, 2025, based in Macquarie Park, but will manage Fujifilm’s operations across Australia and New Zealand. Kondo replaces former CEO Richie Matoba, who is moving to Fujifilm North America. Before joining Fujifilm Australia, Kondo served as Managing Director at Fujifilm Canada, Fujifilm Turkey for three years, and Fujifilm Middle East Africa for six years, overseeing local subsidiaries in each country and territory. He has contributed to the growth of the Medical Division, the Photo Imaging Division, and the Graphics Division. He has also focused on creating growth synergies through product portfolio expansion following the integration of Hitachi's Medical Division and developing new business opportunities through the launch of the Office Printer Division. Kondo is eager to leverage his experience to contribute to the further growth of Fujifilm Australia. Matoba has served as CEO of Fujifilm Australia for three years. The company says his leadership has helped Fujifilm Australia consistently grow and make meaningful contributions to the local community. During his tenure, the company launched the new House of Photography store in Sydney and installed the first Aperto Lucent Open MRI machine outside of Japan at Altus Medical Imaging in Gladesville, Sydney, NSW. Fujifilm Australia also launched an innovative campaign, creating the world’s first printed memories, and celebrated its 20th anniversary. Alex King, Division Manager, Human Resources and Corporate Communications, says, “We’re incredibly grateful to Richie for his leadership and innovative thinking over the last three years. With Mich joining the team, we hope to continue innovating with customers and partners in the region, while supporting our community with new technology.” In preparation for starting in Australia, Kondo says, “I’m excited to get to know the local team and customers. Fujifilm Australia has a strong history of innovation, and I’m looking forward to continuing this trend.” Previous Article MM Plastics acquires Computaleta Next Article Durst signs on as the first FESPA Foundation Partner If you have a news story, or story about an interesting project or installation please contact [email protected] Sign up to Image Magazine Newsletter.
