Women in Print Opens Board Nominations for Secretary & Vic/Tas Patron

Women in Print Board(L-R) Kimberley Skinner (WA), Irene Daws (Secretary), Karen Lawler (NSW/ACT- back), Stephanie Gaddin (Chair), Diana Nikolic (SA-back), Kerry-Anne Boyd (QLD – front) and Rita Karagiannis (VIC/TAS & Deputy Chair).

Women in Print Australia has announced that the Registrar has formally approved its new rules of incorporation. The association says this step strengthens its ability to support members and expand its reach across the country.

It says the new framework provides greater flexibility in generating and applying income from activities to benefit members while also opening access to grants and funding opportunities nationwide. It also gives the association the ability to launch a tiered membership model so that male allies can join the association.

The approval followed months of work by the Board to simplify and clarify the constitution, ensuring it was easy to understand and fully compliant with legislative requirements. “Navigating the technicalities of incorporation can feel daunting, but we were committed to making our rules clear, simple, robust, and future-flexible”, said Stephanie Gaddin, Chair of Women in Print Australia, and Editor of Digital Image Magazine. “That work has paid off, and now we can focus on what matters most, building a strong, equitable and fair community for everyone in the industry right across the country.”

With this transition complete, Women in Print has opened nominations for two key Board positions: Patron for Victoria and Tasmania and Secretary.
Current role holders Rita Karagiannis from IVE Group and Irene Daws from WINC will step back but remain active in the organisation. Karagiannis will serve as Deputy Chair, and Daws will serve as an Ordinary Board member, leading the Sponsorships and Income Committee.

The association also says it is open to sharing the Vic/Tas Patron role or the possibility of a dedicated Tasmanian Patron to ensure Tasmania’s representation on the board.

Nominations are open to eligible Full Members and close on Sunday, 12 October. Nominees will then go into an election process, concluding with a Special General Meeting at a date to be confirmed. Members can submit nominations for themselves or any interested community members via the Member Portal.

With the organisation’s Print & Prosecco networking series continuing through October, the community is encouraged to attend and ask questions about the new rules or the nomination process with any of the current Patrons and Board members. Gaddin will also be available in person at the Victoria and Tasmania Print & Prosecco events.

The current events in the series are scheduled for:
•    Adelaide – 1 October
•    Launceston – 24 October
•    Perth – 30 October
•    Melbourne – 30 October

Tickets are available at womeninprint.com.au/network, with discounted pricing available to members.
“As we head into a busy October, I’d encourage anyone interested in nominating for the seats to come along to an event and have a chat,” added Gaddin. “Whether it’s questions about the new rules, the nomination process, or just a chance to connect, these gatherings are the perfect opportunity to do it together as a community.”
