Tuesday, 17 March 2020 NZSDA postpones 2020 events The NZ Sign Expo, Awards of Excellence and NZSDA Conference due to be held in Auckland in June 2020, have been postponed in response to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation. Paul Walters, NZSDA president, issued the following statement: “Like all of you, we have been paying close attention to the COVID-19 situation over recent weeks and as we navigate through these unprecedented times, we want to ensure that you are up to date with our actions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. “Following the best advice available, recommendations from the Ministry of Health and other authorities, the NZSDA board regrettably announce that The NZ Sign Expo, Awards of Excellence and NZSDA Conference cannot go ahead and will be postponed until June 2021. Even though the event was to be held in June uncertain times have dictated our responsible course of action under the circumstances. “Whilst we understand that many have made travel plans and this decision may cause cost and inconvenience, but with the advice from the authorities, communication with the venues, our event sponsors and members we feel confident the decision made is best for our industry. We will, however, advise that there will be further communication regarding the Awards of Excellence.. “We know that our events, in particular, the Conference and Expo play a vital role in helping form connections or gathering of information and ideas, so we will be thinking of some alternative ways we can continue to support our industry during these uncertain times. “Undoubtedly, there will be some uncertainty among businesses in terms of employer obligations and guidelines, so for NZSDA Members, we have put together some useful resources, information, links and printable posters for the workplace in order to educate staff and help you navigate through this stressful time.
