Janet / Thursday, 23 February 2023 / Categories: Latest News, Wide Format & Signage News, Hardware Structurflex installs first EFI VUTEk D3r in New Zealand When it started in 1937, Sails & Covers Ltd was strictly a sail-making business; now, 85 years later, and after a few name changes and moving into industrial fabrics in the late 1970s and 80s, the company has added wide-format print to its repertoire. In addition, the company started to target the truck-side curtain market in the late 80s. Now called Structurflex, and under the guidance of Managing Director Simon Higgs, the company recently became the first in New Zealand to install the EFI VUTEk D3r, specifically to print truck side curtains. Structurflex brought sign-writing and clear-coating in-house when Structurflex acquired a sign-writing business with these capabilities in 2019. He notes that progress sometimes makes things simpler and sometimes not. With graphics and branding becoming more complex and traditional sign writing very labour-intensive, Higgs decided to research the latest printing technology to upgrade the company’s capabilities.
