The UK-based Head office of the company, known for producing handmade, vegetarian cosmetics with a strong emphasis on social responsibility, recently installed a Roland DG large-format UV printer in its manufacturing facility. Additionally, an Inkcups X5 flatbed printer and an Inkcups Helix One benchtop printer were introduced for cylindrical object printing. Simon Allen, Senior R&D Creative Support at Lush, revealed that while the company had some in-house capacity for large-format and DTG printing, this substantial investment represents an advancement in capabilities. Allen emphasised the extensive efforts the company has invested in finding the right partners and technology, indicating that they had spent a week with Inkcups ironing out kinks in the workflow to enable scalability. The investment amount remains undisclosed, and Lush is currently keeping the details of its plans for the new equipment confidential. The company has said that aligned with its corporate objectives; Lush aims to achieve carbon positivity through insetting, prioritising this over offsetting excesses. Insetting projects are interventions along a company's value chain that are designed to reduce emissions and create carbon storage, and at the same time create positive impacts for communities, landscapes and ecosystems. The company is working toward zero waste through global 'Bring it Back' deposit schemes, treating packaging as a valuable resource. Lush has also established a Green Hub operation to recycle and reuse materials.
