IVE Group diverts 25,000kg of technology from landfill

In celebration of National Recycling Week, IVE Group has highlighted its ongoing partnership with PonyUp for Good, a collaboration that has been active for more than eight years.

PonyUp for Good, a social enterprise and engagement agency, transforms decommissioned technology—such as computers, laptops, mobile phones, desk phones, servers, and more—into opportunities to support Australians in need. Since 2016, through this partnership, over 25,000 kilograms of IVE's decommissioned technology has been diverted from landfill. These efforts have been translated into more than 26,000 fresh meal donations via SecondBite, aiding vulnerable individuals across Australian communities.

PonyUp collects donated and decommissioned technology, ensuring toxic e-waste is kept out of landfills and waterways. Under its “reuse first policy” aligned with EPA standards, the enterprise extends the lifecycle of technology by remarketing equipment in bulk. Additionally, PonyUp offers a range of services, including data destruction, risk mitigation, and security, accompanied by ESG reporting. Half of PonyUp's profits are donated to SecondBite, Australia's largest fresh food rescue charity.

In 2023, SecondBite rescued over 25 million kilograms of surplus food from landfill, supported 1,152 charity partners with free, high-quality, nutritious food, and delivered more than 50 million healthy meals to vulnerable Australians.
