Summa launches 160x250cm F1625 digital flatbed cutter

Summa launched its latest flatbed cutter, the F1625. Specifically engineered for wide-format printing professionals, the F1625 is a 160x250 cm (5x8 ft) flatbed cutting solution that combines ease of use, precision, and modular versatility.

With a 160 x 250 cm (5x8 ft) working area, the F1625 handles flexible and rigid media, including vinyl, PVC, acrylics, foam board, and ACM. It is an all-rounder suited to demanding production environments. Designed to accommodate full board sheets without additional feeding systems, this cutter brings speed and simplicity to every job.

Phil Trumble, managing director, Pozitive told Image Magazine “Our 1612 model – 1600mm wide by 1200mm deep – has been a favourite among sign shops because of its compact footprint and versatility. It handles everything from roll-to-roll trimming to board cutting, and even indexes larger boards beyond the table size. But in Australia, the standard sheet size is 8x4 – 1200mm by 2400mm – and we’ve had consistent feedback over the years asking for a machine that can accommodate this. While we’ve offered larger machines, like the 1800 by 3200, they often take up too much space. Summa consulted its distributors and the clear message that came through was the industry needs a machine that fits an 8x4 board without compromise. The result is the new 1625 it’s 1600mm wide by 2500mm long, which handles standard boards perfectly while still supporting 64-inch roll media for trimming posters or kiss-cutting stickers. It’s a smart, space-efficient solution and tailored to real-world production needs.”

The cutter features, including Automatic Device Calibration, Automatic Tool Recognition, and GoProduce software, minimise setup time and operator error. The Tandem Workflow and Dedicated Operator Zone keep production moving by allowing loading and unloading during active cutting, resulting in up to 50% productivity gains.

Summa’s GoProduce Flatbed Edition software is the driving force behind the F1625’s streamlined performance. It is designed for intuitive operation and automates material recognition, tool settings, and job sequencing. With advanced features like barcode-driven workflows, rapid camera-based mark detection, and smart sorting capabilities, users can minimise errors by up to 60%. It even enables 24/7 unmonitored operation for roll-based workflows.

Like all models in the F Series, the F1625’s modular design can handle three tools simultaneously. Its swappable tool system allows for kiss-cutting, creasing, routing, and more, all supported by Summa’s extensive range of professional-grade tools and accessories.
