These events brought 34 women in Adelaide and 40 in Melbourne. The women attending came from across the signage, printing, and broader print sectors to network and celebrate their achievements this year. The Melbourne event saw the participation of nine (9) apprentices and graduates from Victoria University Polytechnic, sponsored by Visual Connections, who joined a room filled with seasoned professionals and early-career enthusiasts. Commercial Print Apprentices were supported by the Visual Media Association (formerly PVCA). It was a fantastic opportunity for all attendees to build relationships, share experiences, and strengthen their professional networks. The evenings were a delightful fusion of networking, camaraderie, and culinary delight. Chloe Quilty, a Signs & Graphics tutor from Victoria University Polytechnic, expressed her gratitude after the Melbourne event, saying, “A huge thanks to Visual Connections for the invitation and sponsorship. It was a beautiful night.” At the Melbourne event, attendees went home with a custom-labelled Prosecco, sponsored by Ball & Doggett and printed by Label Line. Adelaide had a fun night with giveaways of Prosecco Pyjamas and bottles of wine. Rita Karagiannis, Victorian Patron for Women in Print and Account Director at IVE DDC, added a touch of inspiration in her short opening speech, stating, “Fun fact, did you know in signage, the top three most skilled apprentices in Australia are women? And we are fortunate to have Liz here tonight, who placed second at the WorldSkills Australia contest. Well done, Liz.” Sandy Aspinall, Women in Print Patron for South Australia and Deputy Chair, said of the Adelaide event, “The event last night was exceptional! The venue was fantastic, the food was delicious, and it seemed like everyone in attendance had a wonderful time! It’s always a delight to facilitate evenings such as this where women can socialise professionally and build support networks”. The Print & Prosecco events organised by Women in Print showcase women's remarkable strength and empowerment in the printing and signage industry and the association's values of support, knowledge sharing, community and building networks. These events are not possible without the generous support of sponsors. Women in Print thanks Ball & Doggett, MCC Label, Label Line, and Rocking Rose for the cash and gifts sponsored for each night, and Visual Connections and the Visual Media Association for sponsored tickets for apprentices in both signage and commercial print. Women in Print offers the women in the industry a platform to connect, learn, and inspire one another. Perth (WA) and Brisbane (QLD) will host their Print & Prosecco events in November 2023. Tickets are expected to go on sale shortly. Women in Print is keeping their community survey open for all feedback from the visual media community; take the Survey at this link.
