PPS Innovations and Kodak to launch new Direct to Film Transfer Kit for DTG printers

The DTF Kit will enable DTG users to produce heat transfers using their existing printing equipment to achieve superior indirect transfer printing for fabric embellishment.

The system consists of a modular heat-controlled platen to reduce ink bleed during film printing, printable transfer sheets, a TPU powder glue for application via a shaker and a PPS Melt Box to cure the ink layer and powder glue ready for transfer application. The heat-controlled platen stabilises the ink during the printing, thus reducing color bleed on the film, improving the image and transfer quality. The TPU powder glue is optimised to reduce static on the printable film ensuring accurate glue to ink adhesion and flexibility in fabric types for embellishment. The PPS Melt Cure box is a heat adjustable and timer-controlled unit that cures the printed film and glue before pressing. The DTF Kit will work with most DTG printer brands. DTG users may also avail of Kodak’s DTF specific ink-set as an option.

PPS Innovations CEO Steve Richardson says, “Both PPS Innovations and Kodak specifically designed the DTF kit to enable decorators to get the best results from indirect transfer printing. The DTF Kit allows the user to decorate a greater range of natural and synthetic fabrics, potentially opening new business opportunities. A distinct benefit of indirect transfer printing is the ability to decorate synthetic fabrics, including Sportswear and Outdoor wear, and embellish complex surfaces like caps and bags that can have curves and flaps, making it impractical for direct printing.

Additionally, transfers can be printed and cured, ready for application when required offering greater versatility around production schedules.
