Janet / Wednesday, 5 May 2021 / Categories: Latest News, Wide Format & Signage News Mesh Direct announces pledge to be Australia’s first carbon neutral signage company The signage industry is pretty harsh on the environment. In reaction to this, grand format printing company Mesh Direct has committed to a sustainable future, announcing its pledge to be Australia’s first carbon neutral signage company. Mesh Direct recently partnered with Carbon Neutral. This partnership means all Mesh Direct signage, from banners to billboards, manufacturing to delivery will be 100 percent carbon neutral. The partnership adds to Mesh Direct’s current Green Initiative which focuses on reducing, recycling and reusing materials, including EcoVinyl and EcoBoard signage. Currently, almost 100 percent of signage ends up in landfill, resulting in hundreds of thousands of tonnes of waste each year. Working off the highest possible carbon output, including the printing, manufacturing and transportation, Mesh Direct will offset their carbon emissions. “We are excited to partner with Carbon Neutral to combat climate change in Australia. The signage industry is pretty harsh on the environment and we want to do our bit to safeguard the world and promote Mesh Direct’s pioneering values. We look forward to sharing this journey with our customers,” says Andrew Doenicke, Director at Mesh Direct. Mesh Direct is one of Australia’s leaders in grand format printing and out-of-home advertising, supplying printed signage nationwide. This new venture with Carbon Neutral will catapult Mesh Direct’s commitment to sustainable signage solutions. Focusing on sustainable and eco-signage solutions has been one of Mesh Direct’s passion projects over the years and they are ready to take it to the next level in 2021. Andrew, who is driving the initiative, says: “The environment is a priority. It’s something each one of us at Mesh Direct want to put at the forefront of what we do. Our Green Initiative launched in 2019, focusing on creating signage from recycled materials. We are now ready to take that a step further with our carbon neutral initiative, which we hope will become a norm in the signage industry Australia-wide.” The initial focus of the initiative is on two projects: the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor and the Fortaleza Ituxi Project. The Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor project sets out to create a 200km long green corridor that will restore indigenous vegetation and habitats in the northern Wheatbelt of Southwest Australia. Shifting gears slightly, funds raised for the Fortaleza Ituxi Project will help protect and surveil precious rainforests located in the “Arc of Deforestation” in the Amazon. The signage industry has some catching up to do on the social responsibility front. Mesh Direct wants to be at the forefront of this change, looking to pivot and challenge what has become the norm of how things are done in the signage industry. Will Mesh Direct’s new campaign help to lead the way in this tough industry? They’re at the helm of a challenging conversation and we look forward to seeing what's to come.
